UFO SIGHTING!

I can not remember the exact time and date but it was the middle of winter in the late 70’s around 6pm.
I was on my way to cubs and with it been winter it was dark,I was about 10 at the time. Because it was dark and I was young my brother came with me to the bus stop. While we were waiting we noticed something coming over the trees to the north of us. The object flew right over our heads at a slow speed, we were on top of a hill and my village was below.
The object kept the same hight and did not follow the contours of the land. It carried on in a straight line until it got to the other side of the valley where it seemed to hover for a short time and then it shot of at an incredible speed at about a 45 degree angle and was gone.
My brother is a few years older then me but since the event he would not really discuss it with me.
When ever I bought it up he would just say it was strange and not discuss it further.
At the time of the sighting the only thing I could relate how it looked was to compare it to the roof of the speedway or waltzer that visited the annual show.(this is because of all the lights underneath).
