Juliana Barajas: NASA's Unsung Hero of Perseverance

Juliana Barajas, an administrative assistant at NASA’s White Sands Test Facility in Las Cruces, New Mexico, has dedicated over two decades to supporting NASA’s mission. Her role involves coordinating tasks, solving problems, and ensuring safety and excellence within her team.

Despite initially dreaming of a career in mechanical engineering, Barajas pursued a degree in computer secretarial studies, which led her to a fulfilling career at NASA. She emphasizes the importance of being courteous, resourceful, and willing to learn, qualities that have been instrumental in her success.

In 2009, Barajas received the Secretarial Excellence Award at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, a highlight of her career. However, she takes pride in her daily contributions, stating, "If I can help those around me succeed, then I have fulfilled my duty."

Barajas values the personal growth she has experienced at NASA, learning to be a good listener and resourceful. She hopes to inspire the next generation with courage and resilience, encouraging them to seek help and speak up when necessary.

As NASA prepares for future lunar missions, Barajas remains committed to supporting her "NASA family" and promises to continue being true to herself.
