UFO SIGHTING!

I awake every day at 4:45 am, I walked downstairs and took my Doberman outside to do her business. We live in a small town and I take my dog to a small grass area in an alleyway behind our apartment. I looked up and in the dark sky and saw what I thought was a very bright star. Very bright white light. It was at this time I noticed it was moving from west to east. From where I was in the alley it had just appeared over my apartment. I thought it was maybe a satellite until it appeared to stop in mid air and hover. There was no sound at all. My dog saw it and began looking up. I was confused and somewhat unnerved, so I began walking toward my back door of my apartment slowly as did my dog which was still looking in the direction of the object. As I rounded the alleyway corner the object began to move again towards the east. I watched from my door until it was gone over some buildings and out of my line of sight. I have no idea what it was. It was not a plane as I see them all the time with their blinking lights and it was not a helicopter as I do see them occasionally air lifting patients from our local hospital to the Chattanooga area and those things make plenty of sound.
