UFO Image Debunked

A recent UFO image, known as the 'green orb,' has been making rounds on social media, sparking speculation about its origins and meaning. However, a forensic image analysis by Seth H. Feinstein reveals that the image is likely a result of computational photography artifacts, compression effects, and perceptual illusion rather than a physical object or communicative signal.

The analysis used established digital forensic techniques, including channel isolation, edge detection, HSV analysis, and principal component analysis (PCA). The results indicate that the observed structures are consistent with digital processing and not a physical object or signal.

The image was extracted from a viral social media video attributed to Chris Bledsoe, who described it as a still frame from 4K video footage recorded during a World Forum event at Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. The video and image were analyzed using various methods, including RGB channel isolation, Sobel and gradient edge detection, and PCA.

The analysis found that the internal structures in the image lack physical edge geometry and are not solid or surface-based features. The image's characteristics are consistent with those produced by smartphone imaging pipelines and social media compression.
