NASA ATMS

The Air Traffic Management and Safety (ATMS) project aims to shift air traffic management from tactical to strategic, enabling efficient and resilient operations. ATMS researches and develops technologies to safely integrate new air vehicles with traditional aviation operations.

ATMS focuses on three main areas: Strategic Harmonization for Integrated Flows and Trajectories, Safely Enable Routine Autonomous Operations, and Assurance Methods for Aircraft Automation. These areas of focus will help to reduce cognitive workload, minimize airline delays, and lower operating costs while enhancing terminal safety and optimizing operational performance.
