Explore the Sun: NASA's New Educational Toolkit

NASA's Heliophysics Education Activation Team (NASA HEAT) and the Astronomical Society of the Pacific's Night Sky Network have launched the Explore the Sun toolkit. This resource aims to educate informal educators, amateur astronomers, and enthusiasts about solar science.

The toolkit offers engaging activities and easy-to-use materials for solar viewing events or indoor presentations. Each card in the set pairs NASA images with explanations, answering questions like “What color is the Sun?” and “How does the Sun affect us on Earth?”

Solar images from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory reveal various features of the Sun, such as sunspots, filaments, and coronal mass ejections. These visuals help illustrate the Sun's impact on space weather and solar storms, which affect our daily lives.

The toolkit is designed to spark curiosity and inspire the next generation of explorers. It is available for free download, providing a comprehensive look at our nearest star and its influence on the solar system.
