Astronomy Revamp

NASA's Science Activation program has collaborated with community college instructors to modernize the OpenStax Astronomy 101 textbook. The project aims to incorporate active learning components and NASA resources into the textbook.

Three project teams, including NASA Community College Network, Infiniscope, and NASA Treks, worked together to enhance the content with active learning modules. The results will be field-tested in community college classrooms in Fall 2026.

This effort highlights the potential for adapting existing textbooks into active learning tools, enhancing students' understanding of fundamental astronomical concepts. The project is supported by NASA cooperative agreement awards and is part of the NASA Science Activation Program portfolio.
