NASA celebrates 25 years of human presence on the ISS.
NASA and its partners have marked 25 years of continuous human presence on the International Space Station (ISS), a milestone achieved since November 2000. The ISS has hosted over 280 astronauts from 23 countries and facilitated more than 4,000 experiments by over 5,000 researchers across 110 countries. This global collaboration has also spurred the growth of a commercial market in low Earth orbit, supporting research, technology development, and transportation.
A special logo was created to commemorate this achievement, featuring an astronaut symbolizing all who have lived and worked on the ISS. Surrounding the astronaut are 15 stars, representing the 15 partner nations. The design also includes a depiction of the space station and the Earth, emphasizing the global benefits of the research conducted aboard. The number '25' is integrated into the logo's border, marking the years of human presence.
The ISS continues to serve as a crucial training ground for future deep space missions, aligning with NASA's Artemis missions to the Moon and Mars. For more details about the ISS, visit NASA's official site.
